Nexen Tire Co. was established in 1942 under the name of Heung-A Tire Company. is proud to serve the tire industry for the past 80 years. In 1956, it became known as Korea's first tire company. In 1985, we dedicated our facility in Yangsan, Korea to the production of radial tires. 6 years later, it partnered with OHTSU Tire & Rubber in Japan to sharpen and improve its development and manufacturing capabilities. In 2000, the company's name was changed from Woosung Tire to Nexen Tire Corporation to reflect its commitment to quality and sustainable leadership. The name Nexen is a combination of two future-oriented words: future and age. The name reflects Nexen's desire and determination to prepare for the future and lead to a better tomorrow.
In 2005, Nexen Tire established its US subsidiary, Nexen Tire America, which was a great start to expanding the brand globally. In the same year, Nexen Tire received a patent for its technology to produce rubber/stratified silicate nanocomposite tires. By 2006, the development of the new UHP and Winter LTR/SUV models was completed. To meet the growing global demand for the Nexen brand, an additional tire manufacturing facility was opened in Qingdao, China in 2007. After opening other offices in the USA as well as around the world, in 2012 the 3rd factory was established in Changnyeong, Korea. This plant is one of the largest and most advanced tire production facilities in the world.
